Ujijji Davis Williams, PLA, ASLA
Ujijji Davis Williams is a practicing landscape architect, urban planner and researcher based in Detroit. She is the Founding Principal of JIMA Studio, where she leads critical landscape and urban design work, including neighborhood planning, greenways and streetscapes across the country. She holds a Master of Urban Planning from the University of Michigan, and a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from Cornell University.
Shandra Bernath-Plaisted
Shandra’s experience in architecture is coupled with her background in social movements. Shandra worked a decade as a labor and community organizer in Philadelphia, Atlanta and Oakland. At JIMA Studio, she builds on her organizing experience by supporting community driven and public interest initiatives. She holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Michigan, and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Movements from Swarthmore College.
Michelle Mocelin Urano
Michelle integrates play and environmentalism in her work as a way to develop resilience playscapes that fold in education and habitat support. At JIMA Studio, she builds on her experience to provide important strategies for clients at their own sustainability crossroads. She holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from Harvard Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor of Architecture and Urbanism from the University of Sao Paulo.
Stephanie Onwenu
Stephanie has over 7 years of experience leading and managing urban design and site projects in Southeast Michigan. She was awarded the 2024 National ASLA Emerging Professional of the Year for her design and advocacy work in the field. At JIMA Studio, she builds on her experience to provide important strategies for clients looking to evoke meaningful change in their communities. She holds a Master of Environmental Science and a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Michigan State University.
Marline A. Martin
Marline brings over 30 years of administrative experience for creative and arts organizations. At JIMA Studio, she works as the Office Manager, supporting the office administration, accounting, and business development. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, both from the City College of New York.
