Cooperation Racine Headquarters

Cooperation Racine is an artist-owned collective engaged in rehabilitating a vacant building in Chicago's West Englewood neighborhood to serve as their headquarters for multi-media arts space. Lead architect DAAM has reimagined 71st & Racine to feature a community gallery, incubator kitchen, darkroom, multimedia studios, and flex spaces for teaching workshops and events, and will also house live-work apartments and a retail space. JIMA Studio led the visioning and design for the accompanying landscape. The landscape approach maximizes the limited space available on site while leveraging the indoor-outdoor connections and transitions of the architectural improvements. Several small outdoor rooms were designed to cater to multiple future audiences including community members, building residents, artists with studio space, small businesses and attendees of large-scale events. JIMA Studio provided full services to support Cooperation Racine's submission for site plan approvals and permitting.
